It has not even been a week since the Eric Trump Foundation’s alleged charity-scamming scandal hit the newswires and slightly more since Richard Comey’s damning testimony of Donald Trump’s mob-style coercion attempts over the former FBI Director. But as of late yesterday afternoon, things just got even more complicated for the reality-star-turned-leader-of-the-free-world.

According to official reports pretty much everywhere, Donald Trump himself is now considered officially under investigation for obstruction of justice.

Mueller is currently investigating whether or not Trump purposely attempted to block the FBI’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election by firing James Comey. After Comey’s dismissal, Trump reportedly told Russian government officials that firing Comey relieved the “great pressure” he felt from the Russia investigation.

Bob Mueller
Former FBI Director Robert Mueller testifies before the Senate Intelligence Committee during the annual open hearing on worldwide threats on March 12, 2013. Mueller has been named special counsel to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 election.

Perhaps not to sleepily initiate another “covfefe” instance (or perhaps his staff was finally able to shield him from the news cycle for a solid twelve hours), the president waited until early Thursday to react to the allegations via his social vice of choice and insist that the whole thing is “phony.”

“They made up a phony collusion with the Russians story, found zero proof, so now they go for obstruction of justice on the phony story,” Trump tweeted. “Nice.”

Though initially the Trump administration had lauded Comey’s own testimony in which he clarified that Trump had not previously been under investigation during the time of his tenure, this new stance via Bob Mueller has flipped Trump’s claim of vindication on its head.

“You are witnessing the single greatest WITCH HUNT in American political history – led by some very bad and conflicted people!  #MAGA,” Trump tweeted again.

This is where the reality disconnect becomes tangible. In Trump’s view, he is the victim and all who question his motives are “bad and conflicted,’ and “mean,” “vicious” bullies.

Trump’s tweeted responses seem to target not only Mueller but what he considers to be the villainous media who are just always out to get him. According to the audacious liar-in-chief, the whole thing is just a ploy to discredit and disparage his presidency as wrought by the liberal bias of mainstream journalism and, of course, Democrats.
