Trump asserts that intelligence “leakers” are to blame for his administration’s alleged exposure to Russian influence throughout the 2016 election, not the exposure itself.

I remarked a week or so back about how each day seems like another in the “Upside Down”, where a darker alternate reality seems to replace our own. Today is no different. In fact, it just seems even stranger than we could have ever imagined.

In the aftermath of the Flynn scandal and its apparent undoings within the Trump administration, the president has taken verbal action against the “criminals” behind it all. Only thing is, the “criminals” may not be who or what you think.

In a press conference, Trump asserted that intelligence “leakers” are to blame for his administration’s alleged exposure to Russian influence throughout the 2016 election, not the exposure itself.

“From intelligence, papers are being leaked, things are being leaked. It’s criminal action, criminal act, and it’s been going on for a long time before me, but now it’s really going on,” Trump said.

Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn admitted in his resignation letter that he had knowingly misled Trump’s administration – something that Trump is now said to have been well aware of – about the nature of communications he had with the Russian ambassador to the U.S. His admission suggests that he had in fact discussed sanctions with the Russian ambassador, something which he had previously denied. It was not until excerpts of his communications came to light via The Washington Post (you know, “fake news”) that Flynn was forced to admit his actions.

In Trump’s skewed defense, Michael Flynn – who admitted to his wrongdoings – is the real victim, and the method in which his potentially treasonous acts were exposed are criminal.

“People are trying to cover up for a terrible loss that the Democrats had under Hillary Clinton,” Trump continued. “I think it’s very, very unfair what’s happened to Gen. Flynn, the way he was treated, and the documents and papers that were illegally — I stress that — illegally leaked. Very, very unfair.”

Mind you, this argument is coming from the same man that encouraged Russian hackers to attack former Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the election while referencing leak-attacks against her time and time again. In fact, said attacks were the basis of nearly his entire campaign.
